Well after all this is not just a sphere on a plane) Vue is quite slow soft. It's very complicated to render complex scenes with billions polygons and plant instances on 2-core(( This 8-core machine on work. At home I have 4-core Quad9300 and it's just 2 time slower then Mac.
Well there is hiRes texture of cliff (about 7k pixels i guess - i discovered it on cgtextures.com) Then I make this texture tiled in photoshop. Then i create 2 other procedural shaders of rocks and mixed them with this one. Plus I create different masks of highlights, bump and blend masks. And at the end -> simple procedural shader of grass - mixed by altitude+noise(scaled by Z) nodes in blend mask. Just shader on shpere was rendered about 40sec on MacPro. Pretty fast I think))
